Flower Arrangements – How To Make Them Perfect

You may not have thought about it too hard but making superb flower arrangements is much more than throwing some flowers together. There is an art to flower arranging; it is not simply the case that it can be perfected on the first try. It takes a bit of time, effort, dedication and patience to be able to construct a perfect flower arrangement.

In the first instance, you need to pick the correct type of oasis for your display. The oasis foam that is green is recommended for fresh flower displays whilst the brown foam is ideal for dried flowers or those that are artificial. Your choice of foam should be immersed in a bowl or bucket of water for at least 20 minutes. Do not be tempted to simply place the foam under a faucet. This is likely to result in dry spots that can not be seen by the naked eye. Avoid using the oasis foam on more than one occasion too.

You are now ready to shape your oasis foam. Start by cutting the corners at an angle on all sides of the foam. It is always recommended that the height of your oasis foam should be at least 1 inch higher than the sides of the container. Cut one medium-sized opening or several small openings so as to allow for daily watering.

It is at this point that you can now choose the flowers that you want to use. You should then take the time to plan how you are going to place them in the container. The stems of the chosen flowers should be cut at at least a 45 degree angle before placement in the foam. The flower stem should also remain in contact with the oasis the whole time that it is being inserted. Should you need to remove a flower for any reason, ensure that it makes a fresh hole when being re-inserted. If you place it back in the same hole it may create an air pocket which will cause the flower to wilt.

It is worth taking steps to ensure that your flower arrangements last longer. It is advisable to always use a clean vase or container. The leaves on flowers that would be underneath the water should be removed before placement. This is because these leaves would quickly rot and leave harmful bacteria in the water.

It is also important that you do not place your display in direct sunlight as this will shorten the life of the arrangement. Try to choose a range of flowers with buds that are closed, about to open or in full bloom. This will make your floral arrangement more interesting to look at.

Creating your own stunning floral arrangements is simple once you have the right know-how. In some circumstances it is preferable to purchase arrangements that have already been made, for funerals or weddings for example. You will find that there are several options to choose from, from ornate wreaths to perfectly formed centerpieces for tables.

If you decide to purchase ready-made flower arrangements, this is easy to do, especially if you order online. There are hundreds of vendors on the internet, many with pictures and catalogs to help you pick the best choice for you. Ordering flowers online is generally cheaper and the delivery time is most often within 24 hours. Using the internet to order floral arrangements for last-minute events or for someone dear to you is a quicker and more advantageous than other methods.

There is an art to making perfect, beautiful flower arrangements. It is not just a case of throwing the flowers together in an attempt to make them look good. More information on this as well as Online Flower Delivery .
